My Baby is 12-18 Months Old

Wow, you’ve already had your baby for a whole year. Your baby is no longer considered a BABY, but is now a TODDLER! Because your toddler is on the go, your home should be toddler-proof by this stage. Your toddler will begin experimenting with 3 master skills during this period: walking, talking and thinking.

By the end of this stage, your Toddler should be able to crawl, walk, climb up stairs and may even trot. Pay close attention to your very active toddler. Don’t forget to buckle-up them up in shopping charts, strollers and high chairs. Keep your toddler safe while he or she is exploring their new world.

There will be a language explosion at this stage of your toddler’s life. They have learned an average of ten to fifty words by time they are eighteen months. Help advance their language skills by signing songs like ‘Wheels on the Bus Go Round and Round’ or other toddler favorites tunes.

Your toddler is now also learning how objects fit in relation to one another through measuring cup sets, stacking blocks, and opening cabinets, removing containers and closing them.

Help advance his/her learning skills by teaching your toddler their body parts. Play ‘Where is your nose, hands, feet, etc.,’ while getting them dressed in the morning. Your toddler should be able to recognize familiar faces such as family and friends. Placing photos of familiar faces around (on walls or in toddler photo albums designed for their small hands) can help alleviate separation anxiety.
